MetLife dental insurance coverage is offered through employer-based programs. MetLife provides HMO or PPO plans for employees. Their network of dental providers is extensive and the number of services provided under their HMO plan is over 400 procedures.
The MetLife PPO (or DPPO, as they call it) enables employees to choose their own dentist or to select a dentist from the MetLife network of approved dentists. Choosing an in-network dentist will ensure discounts on service ranging from 10-35%, compared to using an out-of-network dentist. There is no annual maximum on coverage for dental services provided.
The MetLife HMO (previously known as Safeguard Dental Insurance) is now called the Safeguard DHMO. While patients must choose a dentist from the MetLife network of providers, you may change your dentist monthly, if you wish. In addition, each family member may have a different dentist based on their individual needs. When you find it necessary to visit a specialist, you may go with your primary dentist’s recommendation or select your own in-network specialist. While there are no annual maximums on coverage or deductibles, there are set copayments for services provided.
