February is National Children’s Dental Health Month

American Dental Association Event Nears its 75th Anniversary

February is the month to teach children about the importance of oral health! All month long we want to encourage youngsters to brush their teeth twice daily, to floss at least once a day, to visit their dentist at least twice a year, and to eat foods that are good for their teeth and their bodies. The American Dental Association’s first national observance for children’s dental health began on February 8, 1949. Nearly 75 years later, dentists around the country are still taking advantage of the observance to emphasize the good oral health they promote year round.

Why help children focus on good oral health, especially if they get a second set of teeth? The dentists at the ADA use February to remind children and families that “developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children to get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.” Early dental habits go a long way towards deciding how many teeth a person has when they are older. As one proverb says, “Train children in the way they should go, and even when they grow old they will not depart from it.”

The dentists at the Yuba City Dentistry Group have observed the same thing over many decades of dental practice. Children who learn to take good care of their teeth seldom have problems when they see us as teenagers, and then later as adults. Children without a good dental routine often have oral health problems, unless they learn to change their ways for the better.

So get on board with National Children’s Dental Health Month! If you don’t have a visit to the Yuba City Dentistry Group planned that month, you can still participate in the educational activities by checking out the resources made available by the ADA for free downloading. And if you need a dental visit for your child, call us or visit our contact page to set your appointment.

HIGHEST PRAISE FOR YUBA CITY DENTISTRY! From the moment I walked in, Everyone was very kind and understanding of my phobia of dentists. I have had this phobia since being a child and so I have ignored and neglected my oral health because of it. Now as I move onto the beauty and wellness industry myself to help others look and feel and be healthy, it only make sense that I set the example. So as I took the leap to start my own business, I took this leap to get into the dentist chair and conquer my fears. All the staff at Yuba City Dentistry made that possible with the kind of caring and kindness I have never found in another dentist office. Dr Cheema was so gentle and my teeth are no becoming beautiful!! I will be gong back to fix all the dental with him! I highly recommend this dentist and office especially if you have the type of fears I am trying to overcome. !
